Rachel Compton – Doctor of Chiropractic

Rachel ComptonMy Name is Rachel Compton and I am returning to Belfast after 7 years away. I grew up in East Belfast so I am returning to my old neck of the woods as they say.

I was originally introduced to Chiropractic by a careers teacher at Victoria. I had always been quite interested in health care as a profession although wasn’t 100% sold on some of the more tradional fields. I was taken along to one of the chiropractic clinics in Holywood. I was really amazed to see great changes taking place in a holistic setting. As one who has always loathed taking tablets I loved the drug free hands on approach.

I studied at the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in the Vale of Glamorgan. I greatly appreciated the friendliness of the valleys and it was here that I had the next eye –opener as to the vast scope of Chiropractic.

After Completing my course I ventured north to another ex-mining town, Doncaster. After my initial difficulty in understanding the Yorkshire accent I was quickly welcomed. I was really impressed to see more and more individuals taking a pro –active role in their health and realising that Chiropractic was more than just back pain. I gained some 1st hand sports experience here working with a colleague at a local rugby club. However my main interest became in pregnancy and paediatric field. It is amazing to be able to help young infants only a few weeks old become settled in life and give parents a good nights rest!

I have also spent a year in Glasgow which felt like a good starter for coming home due to the large numbers of northern Irish there.

Dr. Pringle Asks some important questions of interest to Belfast residents - Chiropractor Belfast Dr. Pringle Asks...

Are chiropractors just concerned with the spine?
Our interest in the spine is because it covers the major communications conduit between your brain and your body. As a Belfast chiropractor my job is to locate areas (usually along the spine) that interfere with proper nerve communications to and from your brain. Chiropractic adjustments help restore nervous system integrity. In this way, chiropractic care can affect the function of your entire body.
What happens if you stop chiropractic care when you feel better?
Many Belfast folks recognise that this predisposes you to a relapse. Chiropractors know that muscles and ligaments supporting the spine don't fully heal until after symptoms subside.
